How do we prepare our communities for a changing climate when we’re still working out exactly what the future will look like?
Communities across Aotearoa are already being asked to adapt to climate change — making difficult decisions about infrastructure, investment and the places we call home. But who should help us navigate these challenges, and what role should central government play?
Flying the Plane Whilst Building It brings together four speakers, each offering their own perspective on what community adaptation means and how we can make it work. Speakers are:
Hon Reuben Davidson, Gisborne Mayor Rehette Stoltz, Prof Eric Pawson.
Come along for an engaging evening of ideas, different perspectives and discussion about how communities, local government and central government can work together to navigate the challenges ahead.
The event is free and everyone is welcome, however we would welcome any koha to keep this event and future events running.

Yes, there is ample free parking 25m from the venue on the the other side (the South side) of Hawke Street.
- Whay should I wear?
Dress warm casual: although heated, you will be in a stone building.
- Age limitations?
This event is open to all, but if you are under 14 you need to be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
