About the French-Māori Economy Roadmap

On 12 May 2025, French Ambassador to New Zealand, HE Laurence Beau, and Hone McGregor, Chair of Te Taumata, signed a landmark agreement under Chapter 20 of the EU-NZ Free Trade Agreement, dedicated to Māori trade and economy.

The roadmap sets out a shared vision to strengthen collaboration between France and Māori partners through:

• A long-term commitment

• Strengthening our bonds

• A project-based and operational approach

It also aims to reinforce economic connections across the Pacific, aligned with France’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.
