Description

Join MIECAT alumna and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Jess Gabrielli for FOLDENMOVE®, a four-hour immersive workshop integrating movement, breath and visual art-making.

This experience invites you into a guided journey of gentle movement, reflection and creative expression, culminating in the creation of a personal visual artwork; a tangible “imprint” of an inner shift, transition or becoming.

Through mindful awareness of your inner state, intuitive mark-making and reflective conversation, you’ll explore the inner landscapes that shape daily rhythms and emotional wellbeing.

What the workshop includes

FOLDENMOVE® unfolds as a carefully held experience, moving from our bodies to imagery:

• Gentle grounding and somatic arrival
• Exploratory movement sequences (adaptable for all bodies)
• Reflective pauses for journaling and witnessing
• Creative translation into oil pastel, charcoal, pen and acrylic, culminating in expressive action painting

The process supports what has been sensed, felt or emerging to take visual form.

No prior experience in movement or art is required.

What you’ll explore

Participants will:

• Experience the connection between body awareness and image-making
• Develop sensitivity to inner states as creative material
• Explore transition as a space of possibility
• Practice reflective witnessing through art and journalling
• Create a personal “soul map” of their experience

This workshop may resonate if you are:

• Moving through a personal or professional transition
• Curious about embodied creative practice
• Interested in art-making beyond technique
• Seeking a meaningful pause in a fast-moving world

You will leave with a tangible artwork, a visual imprint of your inner movement and a felt sense of having paused, witnessed and honoured your process.

Participants may choose to take their artwork home or consent to its inclusion in a small curated display at MIECAT following the workshop. Participation in the exhibition component is entirely optional, and clear information regarding consent and confidentiality will be discussed on the day.

What to bring

• Comfortable clothing suitable for gentle movement
• A journal (optional)
• Water bottle
• An open curiosity

• Your own yoga mat if preferred

All art materials are provided.

Please note: This workshop takes place on Level 1 of the MIECAT building (accessible via stairs).
