Event description

Food and Stories will be an evening of incredible, authentic multi-cultural food prepared by Her Kitchen Table meal artists and Executive Chef Metin Baran of Zeytin Turkish Restaurant, and the stories behind the food!

This event is a celebration of the female entrepreneurs (meal artists) of Canberra social enterprise Her Kitchen Table and International Women's Day 2022. Her Kitchen Table connects food lovers to authentic and culturally diverse foods from all over the world, made by Canberra's best home cooks (www.herkitchentable.online).

Each of the 8+ courses will be presented in perfect sequence beginning with the story of the origins and history of the food, as well as the connection of the food to the person who prepared it. The evening will also including hearing about the journeys of Her Kitchen Table's meal artists as migrapreneurs.

Chef Metin Baran, who has been a chef at both Marble and Grain and the Boathouse, is the owner of Zeytin which is all about producing a genuine Turkish dining experience, down to the drinks they have on offer. Chef Metin will produce authentic items on and off the Zeytin menu as well as work with the meal artists to take their home cooking to the next level!

The evening is hosted at Zeytin, a beautiful venue on Kingston foreshore. Guests can expect a cocktail style event, with plenty of opportunity to mingle and be immersed in food and food history.

If you have been missing the multicultural festival in the last few years, this event is for you! You will get the opportunity to try authentic foods from around the world. Whether you are a foodie, a social changemaker or a social changemaker who's a foodie, this is a unique event not to be missed! The proceeds will go towards the operations of Her Kitchen Table and ASRC.

Places are limited, so if this sounds like the event for you, don't miss out!
