Food for the Soul: The Final Gift (Book Launch)
Description
A dinner for the conversations we usually leave off the table.
In Singapore, we plan for everything, from BTOs to retirement. Yet, most of us don't learn about end-of-life matters until we're standing in a hospital corridor.
Food for the Soul: The Final Gift is a dinner designed to help you (and your loved ones) figure out those last moments.
Why Join Us?
Break the Taboo: Silence leaves our loved ones guessing. Join a table of like-minded people who would rather be prepared than polite. We’re breaking the taboo so you don't have to carry the mental load alone.
Start an Act of Love: Planning isn't about death; it’s about protecting your family. By the end of this dinner, you’ll understand how to ensure your loved ones are taken care of.
A Practical Roadmap: Leave the table with clarity, next steps, a plan, and a copy of The Final Gift to guide you
Your Ticket Includes:
🍽️ A specially curated dinner.
📘 A copy of The Final Gift.

FAQs
- What is "The Final Gift: An End-of-Life Workbook" about?
The Final Gift is a practical and heartfelt workbook designed to help you thoughtfully plan for the end of your life. It guides you through everything from funeral wishes to personal messages, so your loved ones have clarity, comfort, and a real gift when they need it most.
- Why talk about death?
In Singapore, we plan for everything; HDBs, insurance, and retirement. Yet we leave the only absolute certainty to chance. Without a plan, your family is forced to make high-stakes decisions while they are grieving and exhausted.
Talking about death isn't about being morbid; it's about being prepared.
- What can I expect?
Think of this as a "slow dinner". There is no rush, no pressure to perform, and no "right" way to feel. We’ve designed the evening to be as light or as deep as you want it to be.
You’ll head home with a full stomach, a copy of The Final Gift book, and a clearer heart about the next steps for your own legacy.
- Who is this event for? And who might this event not be for?
This event is for people who are open to talking about death, want to be better prepared for themselves and their loved ones, or feel they “don’t know what they don’t know” when it comes to end-of-life matters.
If you’re looking for legal, medical, or financial advice, or a formal end-of-life planning workshop, this event may not be the right fit.
- Is this event going to be heavy or depressing?
Not at all. While the topic is serious, the vibe is warm and life-affirming. We aren’t here to dwell on sadness, but to focus on the peace of mind and love that comes with being prepared. Think of it as a meaningful dinner with friends where we tackle a "hush-hush" topic with honesty and even a bit of light-heartedness.
- Is it "bad luck" to attend?
Definitely not. Talking about death is about preparation, not pessimism or taboo.
Just as we buy insurance to protect our families, having these conversations ensures your loved ones aren't left with confusion or "trouble" during a difficult time. It’s about being proactive, not inviting misfortune.
- Will I need to do anything before or after the event?
No preparation is needed. This event is designed for people who don’t know where to start. You don't need to read anything beforehand or bring any documents. You can simply show up exactly as you are and take part at your own pace.
Consent and psychological safety are prioritised at this event. We understand that death is a deeply personal topic. You will never be "put on the spot" or forced to share anything you aren’t ready to. You are in full control of your level of participation throughout the evening.
- Can I bring my elderly parents or my adult children?
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage it. Many Singaporean families find it hard to start this conversation at home. Doing it in a neutral, relaxed setting like Nitty Gritty can make it much easier to open up. (Note: Each guest requires a ticket as seats are limited to 30).
- Is this a religious event?
"Food for the Soul" is a secular event open to everyone regardless of faith or background. We respect all cultural and religious perspectives on end-of-life matters, and our goal is to provide a universal roadmap that complements any personal beliefs.
- Will there be books available for purchase?
Yes! Your ticket includes one copy, and there’ll be more available to buy or pre-order on the day.
- What’s on the menu? (Dietary Requirements)
The ticket includes a curated dinner and a non-alcoholic drink. If you have specific dietary needs (Halal-friendly, Vegetarian, Vegan, or Allergies), please let us know during registration so the team at Nitty Gritty can look after you.
- Is there a dress code?
Nope. Come as you are. Comfy, casual, whatever feels right.
