Food preserving and using left overs

Price FREE Get tickets

Event description

Preserving and drying are great ways to reduce food waste and make the most of food you have bought or grown. In this hands-on workshop, Maria Ciavarella, an experienced educator passionate about earth-life balance, will demonstrate and assist participants to practice a variety of preserving techniques.

This will include basic techniques for:

  • bottling olives (in the lead up to the Olives to Oil festival)
  • drying herbs / fruits
  • jams
  • pickles
  • as well as ways to store food and use leftovers to minimise food waste.

At the end of the workshop completed preserves will be raffled off (at no charge) and participants will get copies of the recipes they have learnt.

Registrations are essential and make sure to bring your apron.

This event is being run in partnership with Richmond Neighbourhood Centre.

If you have any access or support questions or requirements in order to participate fully (eg. interpreter), please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you. Photos will be taken at this event, but there is an option to opt out on the day.
