Our first fundraiser: an evening of food, talks and community
Are you interested in local food and community in the Illawarra?
Come along to meet other growers, makers, producers, advocates, culture guides, picklers, bakers, brewers, butchers, retailers, distributers, chefs and home cooks who share a passion for delicious, fair food in our region.
Our next event is a fundraiser, and we will be hosting an evening of delectable food, talks and creative connections.
FOOD: Join us for a four-course meal featuring local produce, lovingly prepared by Lili Zlojutro (@thereisalwayscake) and the FoodTalks crew. Food will be served 'community-style', seated at long tables under candle light in the historic Thirroul Railway Hall. There will be a variety of dishes, including some options for people who are are vegetarian, dairy intolerant, and gluten intolerant. However, as food will be prepared and served communally, we cannot cater to strict dietary requirements or allergies.
TALKS: Accompanying each of the four courses will be a 10-15 minute 'talk' by someone who is active in the local food system as a producer, a researcher, a preserver, a retailer or a community advocate. These presentations may spark questions and conversations across the room or at your table.
COMMUNITY: Sarah Anderson from Popes Produce will be curating a series of 'creative provocations' throughout the evening.

FoodTalks Illawarra Incorporated
We are excited to report that FoodTalks Illawarra has recently become a registered not-for-profit incorporated association (INC2600781). Being an incorporated association means we can get a bank account and insurance, we can host bigger events, raise funds and apply for grants. This event will be our first fundraiser! As well as going towards costs for the event, this event will raise money for future happenings.
