Event description

French poet and composer Guillaume de Machaut was a 14th Century colossus whose influence is still felt today. We present a selection of his choral works, culminating with his groundbreaking composition Messe de Nostre Dame. The mass is accompanied by a moving panorama created especially for the piece; an immense scrolling artwork turned on cranks, backlit and augmented with shadow puppetry.

"Machaut's Notre Dame is the genesis of modern music" - The LA Times.

Featuring

Pepe Becker (soprano, musical director)
Toby Gee (countertenor)
Will King (baritone, bass)
David Morriss (bass)
Robert Oliver (viol)

Artwork and shadow puppetry by Jen Eccles and Liam Dakin.
