For Your Love - Djilba's Dance
Event description
For Your Love! We're back, just over a year later!
Join us for an intimate dance affair in the heart of Walyalup, this time featuring Livvy Ratbag and Cash Promise.
Djilba is about growth of wildflowers and plants, nesting birds and raising of the young kangaroo, emus and possums. Take notice of the flowering acacias and bask in the cool, clear days with warm and beautiful sun. As things are on the way of warming up, we can pay attention to the flowering balgas, but keep an eye out for the swooping koolbardi on your hikes! Let's cower from the koolbardi and stay away from the rain, protected by the basement walls down at Frankie's
It wouldn't be For Your Love without a cause. This year we are raising funds for Transfolk WA and We Are W/M. We are W/M is a grassroots charity that helps people to have healthy, consensual relationships and is involved in education, advocacy and research in this area. Transfolk WA provides peer support for trans and gender diverse people and their loved ones.
This year I'll be running it a little differently, instead of a free event and an Instagram fundraiser, I'll be selling tickets. All profits after payment to the deejays and artists will be donated 50/50 to each organisation. Furthermore, there's a raffle with tickets that are purchasable here and on the night - there's been an outpouring of support from local businesses. I'll announce the prizes soon.
This is a queer space, a space that embraces the vastness of what it means to be a womxn. It's a space for these people to celebrate their resilience free of harassment. If you cannot respect this guiding principle then please do not attend. If you feel unsafe on the night, come and chat with me, the door person, security or Frankie's Bar Staff. It's a no tolerance policy.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to ALEX and GABBY for their beautiful interpretation of this year's event through their combined artistic force.
Finally, if you're doing it tight then do reach out, no one will be turned away for lack of funds - though please do consider donating.
Can't wait to see you in the dance xoxo
