Welcome to Embla Rooftop Bar & Cinema — dinner and a movie on a rooftop.

From late January we will be taking over a historic rooftop to bring you afternoon and early evening food and beverages followed by movies after sunset.

Like all good things, this won’t be around forever.

FILM SCREENINGS

Film screenings will begin around 8 - 8.30 (whenever the sun sets).

Deck chairs are provided. Bring some warm clothes in case it cools down during the evening, and keep an eye on the weather in case a little rain is forecast.

Blankets, sunnies and other good things are available to purchase from the rooftop bar.

FOOD & WINE

For this summer like no other, we're taking our Embla kitchen up on the roof. Vaguely Mediterranean in the same way the Paris End is Parisian — things that are tasty and go well with a spritz or a glass of rosé.

Our menu is available through the afternoon and evening, including during the movie, for snacking or a full meal.

PLEASE NOTE: the purchase of food and beverages is in addition to your cinema ticket and is not included in the cinema ticket price.

LOCATION

Embla Rooftop Bar & Cinema is on the rooftop of a building neighbouring Embla, The Melbourne Theosophical Society. Look for the signs at the doors and head up to the rooftop via the lift and a flight of stairs. The address is 126 Russell St, Melbourne 3000.

NOTE: The rooftop is not wheelchair accessible as there are stairs.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

We’ll go ahead with cinema sessions wherever possible, and this includes light/intermittent rain. Bring a waterproof jacket if rain is forecast.

Screenings will be cancelled only if the weather poses a safety threat to patrons and staff. If we do have to cancel a session, we will try to let you know as early as possible but may have to cancel at late notice in some circumstances.

If we do have to cancel ticketholders will be contacted via text. If a screening is cancelled all ticketholders for that session will receive a voucher that can be used to book a future screening at Embla Rooftop Bar and Cinema.
