When global politics is so challenging, and the international alliances we trust are under enormous pressure, the role of the foreign correspondent has only become more important. How do those stories get told in such a conflict-riven environment, where journalists themselves often become targets?

Mike Amor is one of Australia’s most experienced broadcast journalists. He is currently a presenter for Channel Seven Melbourne’s top rating new service, having returned to Australia after 18 years as the network’s United States Bureau Chief.

Agnes Teek is a multi-award-winning journalist with over 20 years’ experience in international current affairs television and is currently the series producer for SBS Dateline. She has worked with leading broadcasters including BBC, ITV and SBS.

Cameron Stewart is the Chief International Correspondent at The Australian. He was previously the paper’s Washington Correspondent covering North America from 2017 until early 2021. He was also the New York correspondent during the late 1990s. 

Moderated by Michael Bachelard, a senior writer and former deputy editor and investigations editor of The Age. He is a former Indonesian correspondent and is President of the Melbourne Press Club.
