Monthly Forum: Efficiency is Decarbonization
Event description
Our most abundant and easiest decarbonization effort is the often-neglected investment in efficiency. Formerly referred to as the “negawatt”, many programs stress making the building more efficient FIRST so that the alternatives and/or the electrification protocol operate better, smaller, and MORE EFFICIENTLY (e.g. the Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program). This session will discuss history, science, and will highlight historical efficiency case studies of small (1-4) and large (5+) residential buildings.
By attending this session, participants will:
- Learn about case studies with small scopes of work and huge savings
- Understand that cash, not programs, are the principal driving force in building owner decisions
- Learn the thinking of small to large residential owners and their influences
- Look at the cost-effectiveness of efficiency retrofits
