Every asset has a journey.

From the initial business case and project delivery, through commissioning, operation, maintenance and optimisation, to its eventual replacement, repurposing or decommissioning, the decisions made at each stage of an asset's lifecycle can have a significant impact on its long-term performance, cost, reliability and risk.

For asset-intensive organisations, managing this journey effectively requires more than maintaining equipment. It requires a connected approach that brings together asset lifecycle management, effective project delivery and the intelligent use of digital technologies and data.

With ageing infrastructure, increasing cost pressures, workforce capability challenges and growing regulatory expectations, organisations need to make better decisions at every stage of the asset lifecycle.

This IPA State Forum will explore the asset journey from cradle to grave, providing practical insights into how organisations can plan, deliver, operate, optimise and ultimately retire their assets more effectively.

Our IPA forums are great opportunities to come together with others in your field to share and acquire knowledge. Attendance is aimed at 20 people, providing an opportunity to gain practical insights while building a broader network of industry peers.

Our Presenters:

Amod Datar has more than 30 years' experience leading major industrial projects across Queensland Nitrates, Incitec Pivot and Dyno Nobel. His expertise spans the full asset lifecycle, including capital project delivery, asset optimisation, maintenance and reliability, digital transformation, and the safe decommissioning of complex processing facilities. Amod brings a practical, strategic perspective on how organisations can use technology and data to improve asset performance and lifecycle decision-making.

Toby Doyle combines more than a decade of reliability engineering experience with advanced expertise in data science, having held engineering and leadership roles across Queensland Nitrates, Incitec Pivot and Dyno Nobel. His work has focused on reliability strategy, failure analysis, lifecycle optimisation and applying analytics to maintenance and production decisions. Toby offers a unique perspective by combining practical engineering knowledge with data-driven insights to support better asset investment and maintenance decisions.

Lakshmi Thiagarajan is a digital transformation and enterprise technology leader with over 18 years' experience delivering large-scale transformation programs across mining, manufacturing, financial services, government and consulting. Having led major technology, IT/OT modernisation and data initiatives for organisations including Dyno Nobel, South32, Suncorp, ANZ and Deloitte, Lakshmi specialises in turning complex transformation strategies into measurable business outcomes. She believes successful transformation depends as much on leadership, organisational alignment and people as it does on technology.
