LGBTIQA+ Disability Forum - North West
Event description
Following the success of our first LGBTIQA+ Disability forum, we are holding our second forum - this time in the North West! This forum provides a safe and supportive space for individuals to share their experiences, gain valuable insights, and promote mental wellbeing within a community that often faces multiple layers of discrimination and marginalisation. By bringing together experts, advocates, and individuals with lived-experiences, the forum will raise awareness about the intersectional issues faced by LGBTIQA+ people with disabilities. It offers a platform to discuss the impact of societal prejudices, such as ableism and homophobia, mental health and access to support services. Guest speakers, panel discussions, and networking provides opportunities for attendees to explore strategies for self-care, empowerment, and resilience. The forum creates a sense of belonging and connection for participants and serves as a catalyst for change in mental health services. It will highlight the need for comprehensive and inclusive support systems that recognise and address the specific mental health concerns of this often-overlooked community. It will create a supportive network promoting mental wellbeing and advocates for the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability status. |
