Event description

In finding words, we find ourselves.

In finding ourselves, we find each other.

Join us for a nurturing afternoon uncovering found poems and connection, in a cosy creative hideout at Many Arts Studio.

Each in our own ways, together.

What to expect:

  • a step-by-step introduction to found poetry
  • time to explore making your own found poems
  • bringing in different materials and art forms to complement your found poems
  • gentle sharing, witnessing, and responding - each in our own ways, together
  • share in a light afternoon tea

This gathering is open to anyone who is interested in a creative afternoon. No experience necessary. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your favourite pen/pencil/marker. Maximum 7 participants plus a co-facilitation triad.

Your co-facilitation triad are:

Amy is a writer and the founder of Words of a Feather, a studio for writers of all ages.

She believes in creative writing as a tool for self-discovery, expression, connection, imagination, and joy. Through her writing and work, she hopes to bring creatively-curious individuals together, to learn and grow, find our voices, and share our stories.

Amy is most recently the author of The Yard Sale at Story House (January 2024). You can discover more about her writing here.

Kirsten is an art therapist who works creatively with young people and adults.

She was drawn (no pun intended) to art therapy after many years as a primary and special educator and a mental health counsellor, due to its gentle, open and explorative elements.

Kirsten loves therapeutic arts practice for the way it finds meaning without necessarily using words, its person-centredness and its honesty to the new. She believes we can learn so much about ourselves and the world around us, by exploring through making.

Weiyu is an artistic companion and the host of Many Arts Studio, an urban creative hideout for all.

Eternally grateful for finding home and adventure at long last in the realm of therapeutic arts, Weiyu pays respects to all parts of self and all walks of life through learning and sharing in all things making, mending and life affirming.

You can read Weiyu's full bio here, and discover more about Weiyu’s random making journeys on Youtube and Substack.
