Who are the discussions for?

(Booking prerequisite)

Anyone who has attended an SRV theory workshop or event (Towards a better life, SRV 10) and is wanting an opportunity to deepen their learnings on SRV particularly on how SRV theory can be applied practically.

The facilitated online discussions are an opportunity for conversations that invites questions, critical thinking and sharing of examples.

Each online discussion will be on a different topic based on the themes of SRV.

About the Facilitator: Ricky Esterquest

Discussion facilitator Ricky Esterquest is a father of two boys, husband, baseball player, business owner and Townsville, QLD resident. He is a student, practitioner and teacher of Social Role Valorisation (SRV) and Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) and has had the opportunity to be involved in the lives of people living on the margins of society for the last 10 years. His specific interests are early childhood intervention, meaningful work including micro enterprise and customised employment, inclusive education and life after secondary school.

Ricky has worked alongside many people to use valued roles and ‘role goals’ as a planning and action framework and is looking forward to a wonderful discussion event.

ABOUT

Foundations Forum is a NSW non-profit volunteer organisation formed in 1985 by a group of individuals committed to improving the lives of people who are marginalised in society. Our aim is to challenge, inspire and encourage individuals and organisations to pursue better lives for people who are at risk of being devalued, by promoting the principles and practice of Social Role Valorisation (SRV).

We aim to assist people to understand social devaluation and disadvantage in our community, especially as it affects the lives of people who are marginalised.

Our emphasis is on organising and conducting workshops/training events designed to create a deeper awareness of the circumstances of people who are devalued by society as well as offering positive strategies for creating the conditions which are more likely to lead to a better life for those people.
