Event description
Webinar Series about ways to gain “the good things” of life for people who are Marginalised in our society
A Foundations Forum webinar series with John Armstrong.
In a series of three FREE online events John Armstrong is addressing the following topics, using the lens of Social Role Valorisation:
Webinar 3: What's the big deal about the good things of life?
Thursday 3rd December from 1 pm to 2 pm (15 mins Q&A included).
People aim for different goals when supporting someone who is marginalised: "to be given their rights", "to be empowered", "to have choice", "to reach their full potential". Yet SRV has used the phrase, "the good things of life" for many years now. What is it about the good things of life that SRV claims to be the highest beneficial 'thing' to be aimed for?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Webinar 1: "How can you prevent people's lives getting lost in the discussion of funding and support arrangements?" ended Tuesday 17th November. A recording of the webinar is available until December 1st.
Webinar 2: What tensions arise when providing formal support in informal environments? ended Tuesday 24th November. A recording of the webinar is available until December 8th.

Who is this workshop for?
Anyone who is interested in addressing the needs of people who are marginalised and has a commitment to positive lives for all people. The workshops are designed for individuals, families and for participants from a range of sectors (disability, education, aged care, mental health, youth, etc.).
If you are seeking ways to meet the real needs of marginalised individuals and are a support worker, teacher, coordinator, advocate, family member, person with disability or an older person receiving services, then these workshop have particular relevance.
Presenter:
John Armstrong has had a long career in many human service roles, the last thirty as a human service consultant, evaluator and trainer to people, families and organisations across Australia, NZ and other parts of the world. His work is underpinned by the knowledge and application of Social Role Valorisation (SRV) which provides a practice framework for successfully transforming the lives of people who are, or at risk of being, devalued by their communities

ABOUT
Foundations Forum is a NSW non-profit volunteer organisation formed in 1985 by a group of individuals committed to improving the lives of people who are marginalised in society. Our aim is to challenge, inspire and encourage individuals and organisations to pursue better lives for people who are at risk of being devalued, by promoting the principles and practice of Social Role Valorisation (SRV).
We aim to assist people to understand social devaluation and disadvantage in our community, especially as it affects the lives of people who are marginalised.
Our emphasis is on organising and conducting workshops/training events designed to create a deeper awareness of the circumstances of people who are devalued by society as well as offering positive strategies for creating the conditions which are more likely to lead to a better life for those people.
