Fourth International Handreading Association Conference
Event description
Fourth International Handreading Association Conference 2025
The fourth International Handreading Association Conference will be taking place on the weekend of 25th-26th October 2025. This time, it will be happening in the NZ morning, the UK/EU evening and the US/Canadian afternoon - please note the times carefully! The sessions will be recorded and will be available for viewing online if you are unable to make the 'live' times.
Saturday 25th October 2025 (7-11am NZ / 7-11pm UK / 2-6pm NY)
(1) First Session: Johnny Fincham (BA): "Oppositional Indicators - honing your skills as a Handreader'
The much loved and wonderfully entertaining Johnny Fincham will share his insights on making sense of apparently contradictory feature of the hands. Sometimes features of the hands seem to indicate something opposite to what we might expect.... which tells us we have not understood that feature of the hand correctly! Johnny will illuminate us with the discoveries he has made from his many decades of analysing hands.
(2) Quick-Fire Presentations:
Christopher Jones: "The Palmistry of Fingerprints" This much anticipated and long-awaited book is coming out in January 2026. Here is a preview!
Kate Shannon: "The Two Sides to the Double Loop" A new way of looking at the significance of the Double Loop fingerprint pattern.
Professional Development:
Counselling Corner with Carolyne Taylor (Dip. Couns): "Supporting traumatic childhood experiences in a handreading" Advice and suggestions on how to professionally handle difficult topics within a handreading consultation
(3) Christopher Jones (MA): "From HM Parkhurst Prison: The Hands of Rapists and Murderers"
These handprints were collected in 1991-1992, so this talk is a long time overdue! Christopher will present a paper looking at the significant hand features to be found in the hands of criminals, including serial rapists, bank robbers, arsonists and murderers. The handprints were collected from residents of the UK's most secure prison, HM Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight, reserved for the most serious of criminals. It is axiomatic in psychology that it is through studying the abnormal that we find out what is normal. So it is also with chirology. This unique collection will change your understanding of hands.
(4) Time for Questions
Time for you to ask your questions!

Sunday 26th October 2025 (7-11am NZ / 7-11pm UK / 2-6pm NY)
(1) First Session: Andres J Washington "The Significance of Rare Fingerprints and the NCIC Classification System"
We are very pleased and privileged to have Andres J Washington at the conference. Andres has been researching the significance of rare fingerprint patterns for over 40 years and has found that unusual fingerprint patterns are found in the hands of gifted and unusual people. With access to a database of nearly 18 million fingerprints (from the National Crime Intervention Centre established in 1967 by the FBI), he has discovered significant patterns in the hands of Jimi Hendrix, Eisenhower, Billy Holiday, Einstein, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Walt Disney and John Lennon, to name just a few. In this presentation, Andres will outline his approach to assessing fingerprints and show how these manifest in the hands of outstanding people.
(2) Handprint assessment of John Lennon
Given how unusual John Lennon's fingerprints are, we thought we would look at his hands! Several very experienced handreaders will give their view on his hands - if you are interested in contributing to the discussion as well, please contact Christopher Jones in advance.
(3) Second Session: Felicity Booth (MA) “How different are you? Neuro-divergence and the Hand"
Felicity brings her 30yrs of handreading, professional teaching and parenting experience to explore the theme of neuro-divergence, including such things as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and what the hand reveals about these different psycho-neurological differences. Rather than putting a label onto people, there is value in exploring what the internal felt experience is for those that exhibit what is being called 'neuro-divergent behaviour'. For the uniqueness of our hands is sufficient evidence that we are all, in fact, in some way 'neuro-divergent'.
(4) Panel Q&A
Time for you to ask your questions!
