In this workshop, Arbër Qerka-Gashi and Natalija Stepanović invite participants to explore how cinema and film have shaped problematic societal notions about marginalised communities across diverse contexts.

Drawing on research into representations of Romani and Albanian communities in Yugoslav cinema, Arbër challenges traditions of harmful portrayals and opens up space for participants to collectively reflect on and re-imagine how such narratives can be disrupted.

The London Migration Film Festival, which is holding its 10th annual edition from 27 November-3 December 2025, aims to challenge the narrow rhetoric on migration that often sees migration, and people on the move, framed in reductive and dehumanising binaries.
