Francis Plagne Band + Liz Rácz (France) + Robbie Avenaim
Event description
Francis Plagne Band + Liz Rácz (France) + Robbie Avenaim
On the 1st Sunday afternoon in May, visual artist Liz Rácz (France) presents her “noise drawing” project at the Red Hill Hotel.
A graphite pencil & paper is connected to a device which connects to amplifiers, analogue synth, contact mics, Walkman & speakers. The pencil is part of the circuit, changing the sound according to the amount of graphite on the paper, as well as from interactions between mics & feedback. Thus, a unification of sound & drawing manifests: the drawing is part of the circuit, and the circuit is the drawing: noise drawing noise.
Bookending our international guest are two unique artists from Naarm. Percussion inventor Robbie Avenaim will open with a virtuosic drum solo accompanied by kinetic machines, and outsider songsmith Francis Plagne will close the afternoon with some glistening concrète pop. Francis appears in exceptional trio formation with bonafide living legends Maria Moles (drums) & Alex MacFarlane (bass).
An autumnal feast not to be missed!
