Frank DiBussolo’s Jazz Connection Series – A Rotating Showcase of Jazz Artists; Featuring Swing Theory

Frank DiBussolo’s Jazz Connection Series continues at Godfrey Daniels with a rotating lineup of musicians and a focus on collaboration, exploration, and close listening. This installment features Swing Theory, led by Lehigh Valley guitarist Josh Mitchneck alongside vocalist and guitarist Dan Epstein, with occasional percussion from Tom Epstein. Rooted in years of study and performance under Frank DiBussolo’s guidance, Swing Theory make their debut on the Godfrey Daniels stage, bringing fresh interpretations and a deep musical rapport into the intimate setting of Bethlehem’s premier Live Music Listening Room.

Frank DiBussolo has been a professional musician since 1965. During this time he has worked with Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, Diane Carroll, Vicky Carr, Bob Hope, George Burns and Dom DeLouise and others. As a soloist he has been featured with the bands of Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Bucky Pizzarelli, Howard Alden, Lester Lannin and more. He is a graduate of Widener University and the Combs College of Music where he earned the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees. He has served on the faculties of Swarthmore College, Moravian College, Lehigh University and the Combs College of Music. Dr. DiBussolo has recorded extensively and can be heard on the Naxos, DBK and Lost World record labels. For his work in the recording industry, he has been nominated eight times for The Grammy Award in various catagories. He is published in Guitar Player , The Educator and Just Jazz Guitar magazines as well as in the Groves Dictionary.

Josh Mitchneck grew up in the Lehigh Valley and has been working on mastering the guitar for 18 years. Josh comes to our stage via Dr. Frank DiBussolo, with whom he has been studying for eight years. Josh has accompanied Frank on many of his performances over the years with several different ensembles.  

Both Josh and Dan Epstein began playing together as a duo; Dan was also a student of Frank’s for both vocals and guitar. Together, they decided on the name Swing Theory, and sometimes Dan’s father, Tom Epstein - another longtime entertainer in the Lehigh Valley – joins them on percussion. 

The listening space at Godfrey Daniels is new to the trio, and we are excited to welcome Swing Theory to their debut on our stage.
