Sustainable Craft: Franken Paper – Origami Box

Most paper / cardboard can be recycled but there are ways it can be used to replace having to buy other products. This is a way of creating a sheet of unique paper, strong enough to make small boxes labels, tags and book covers.

The purpose of these activities is to demonstrate how to craft without spending a fortune and using what people may already have at home, including “rubbish” that would be sent to landfill.

We are all familiar with the 3Rs Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose. Shopping in person or online results in large amounts of packaging, much of which ends up in landfill as it is not or cannot be recycled. Many of us may try to reduce the paper and plastics in our purchases and try to recycle or repurpose what we cannot avoid, however we still throw many materials into our bins.
