Event description
An original play by Gabriel Donaldson, Frankenstein’s Monster is a contemporary stage-play that adapts Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, with the twist being that Victor Frankenstein, the mad scientist that plays God and brings a monster to life, is suffering from schizophrenia, meaning that he is unable to tell whether the monster he creates is real or in his head.
Are you paying attention?
Boy genius Victor Frankenstein is only fourteen when his mother drops dead, leaving the family in a spiral of grief, and Victor with a mountain of questions about the condition she hid from him. But Victor Frankenstein has dreams. Dreams of proving he could have saved his mother. Dreams that this world can’t possibly understand. Dreams of cheating death and dreams that are quickly becoming all too real.
Something is alive… or is it?
Victor Frankenstein isn’t paying attention. Victor Frankenstein can’t tell if his driven by good intentions or by his more monstrous ego. Victor Frankenstein can’t keep the people he loves safe anymore, because Victor Frankenstein doesn’t know what’s real anymore. In a modern adaptation of Mary Shelly’s iconic novel, Victor Frankenstein is forced to ask himself:
What makes a man?
What makes a monster?
And what turns men into monsters?
