.A little about what to expect at The Franklin Folk Club...

"Franklin Folkie at The Palais is part of the social, musical and Community fabric of the Huon Valley

""The spirit of the Valley is epitomised by The Palais Theatre""

Ross Smithard & Up Jumped Trouble...

Ross put together “Up Jumped Trouble” in 2021 to not only showcase his tunes and encourage and inspire others to listen to and play Old time music but also to support women in music.
RS & UJT are more a musical family than a band, all members, at some stage, have been students of Ross, brought together through a love of folk music. The band has a shared belief that “Old time” music lies at the very heart of the folk tradition. It is the music that brings folks together to play the traditional instruments of fiddle and banjo around their kitchen table, their campfires and in their community halls. It inspires folks to dance, sing and laugh. We are pretty chuffed to be able to play this type of music and want to share it with others!

Some words from Creative Director Alice Toner...The Franklin Folk Club was founded in 1976 by Mick and Helen Flanagan due to noticing a vibrancy in the Folk Culture of the Huon Valley.
