Event description
A FUN FREE FAMILY EVENT IN THE CARLTON GARDENS
2025 POP-UP CHRISTMAS STORY WALK
Sunday December 14
Any time between 10.00am-3.00pm
Discover a fun new Christmas story in the Carlton Gardens.
Gather with friends and family in the park, pick up a map at our registration desk near the children’s playground. Follow the storyboards along the path to read a Christmas story.(enter via Rathdowne Street, north of the Melbourne Museum).
The story is aimed at children ages 2-8 (must be accompanied by an adult) but all the family will enjoy this event.
Little surprises for little people along the way!
A StoryWalk® is
a way for people to get together and enjoy stories in the outdoors with family and friends
a book to read on storyboards placed along a trail
fun and engaging as you read and walk at the same time.
How long will it take? Approx 45 mins (It depends how long you want to spend in the playground.) While you are there you can also have a picnic and visit the museum.
We would appreciate your registration for the event as it will help us with the number of surprises for the children.
This event is created by Geography Victoria and supported by the City of Melbourne, the Children's Book Council of Australia - Victoria Branch and Readings Bookshop. Sincere thanks to HarperCollins Publishers Australia Pty Limited and Emma Bowd and Matt Shanks for their creativity.
The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont, USA - developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in 2007. Hundreds, if not thousands of StoryWalks® have popped up all around the world since.
