Join us at Art Space for a free workshop making Wool Godseye's! Come be part of a vibrant community art installation at Groundswell Festival!

As part of the Groundswell Festival, the Artspace Collective will host a fabulous FREE God's Eye workshops at The Art Space Collective HQ. All are welcome!

Participants will be guided by artists from the Artspace Collective to create their own God's Eye artworks using wool and sticks. The artworks created in the workshop will be fixed to a stake in the ground and put out for a display at the Groundswell Festival, creating a 'field' of vibrancy!

Head down to Groundswell Festival to see if you can spot your artwork! They'll be ready for you to collect and keep after the festival.

A God's eye, also known as Ojo de Dios in Spanish, is a spiritual and votive object made by weaving a design out of yarn upon a wooden cross. They are commonly found in Mexican, Peruvian people and Latin American communities, among both Indigenous and Catholic peoples. The Huichol Indians made these decorative, ceremonial shields with colored yarn and sticks. They were woven spiritual symbols and for protection in ancient Mexico and are still popular as a decorative craft.
