Free Range: Coo, Club Sound Witches, and GongFresh and ClamTown
Event description
Free Range sounds, sunny side up.
A Thursday evening sound club featuring improv, hand-stands, electronics, song, wind, noise, pipes, concrète, reeds, tubs, pedal power, no-tech, string, dials, batteries, chaos, plectrums, spectrums, keys, mystery, valves, pulleys, particle storms, and silence.
Free Range kicks off with a triple dose of electro duo power. Three to the power of two divided by zero with the plug dangling from the socket.
Coo – if Silver Apples were reborn playing Meanjin house shows in 2024, they probably wouldn't sound anything like Coo. But nobody really does. Live drums and electronics with the volume up and the energy tripping the geiger counter. Hard boiled.
Club Sound Witches – flagship act of the Breakdance the Dawn cabal, the legendary CSW emerged from Moorooka's Golden Mile a few years back with their drum machines and synths caked in mud. Humid not-techno for fuzzy heads. Scrambled.
GongFresh and ClamTown – in the world of GF&CT cyclic sound systems, one groove begets another in an unfolding story of hypnotic beat and squidgy parps. As a minimum, your foot will tap, but chances are you're gonna shake it. Goodna's finest beat masters. Double yoked.
