The health, or compromised health, of our feet has ramifications throughout the rest of our body. At birth a healthy foot has a wide toe base with flexible spacious toes. As a toddler we distributed our weight correctly and moved freely with an upright posture. We could squat easily and comfortably.Â
So what happens between birth, toddler-hood and adulthood?                                        Our feet, like the rest of our body, reflect our life.                                                  Let's recreate easeful, pain free feet and ankles that allow us the ease and freedom to walk and run and jump and squat and balance, and whatever else we may choose. We do this by mobilising and strengthening our feet just as we would our legs or core or any other part of our body.
What to bring:
- a towel
- a pair of socks
- a bottle of water                                                                      - a willingness to participate                Â
Please wear clothes that allow for unrestricted movement.
Experience vitality and resilience in your feet and become a "Free the Feet" advocate.                   Our feet ground us, literally and figuratively. They are our contact with the earth and the energies that flow through it. They are our base, our foundation. A steady foot means stability and security. When we ‘lose our footing’ we lose our equilibrium and sense of balance. Our body, and our mind, know this whether we think about it consciously or not.Â
On a deeper spiritual level, we also know that this grounding contact with the earth is rooted in who we are as people, that we are made of the elements just as the world around us.
Structurally and energetically, our feet influence the rest of our body.                             Think 'bottom up' - feet, knees, hips, spine, neck, head.
Monique is an experienced multi-disciplinary bodywork/massage therapist, and workshop facilitator.
Her specialties include Zenthai Shiatsu (including cupping, moxibustion, and Thai Foot Massage), Pregnancy Zenthai, Internal Organ Bodywork, Craniosacral Balancing and Lomi Lomi.                                      Â
Monique is equally passionate about, and an avid proponent of regular movement and play to ensure longevity in mobility, agility, strength, dynamic balance, stability and mental acuity. She has a particular interest in feet and joint health, nervous system reset and easeful nasal breathing patterns.                           She facilitates workshops and classes co-creating and encouraging participation to experience health and wellbeing. She offers personalised suggestions encouraging people to listen to their own body and participate in methods and at a pace most congruent for them.
In this workshop we will focus on the FEET.
