Freedom Day Braai - Friends of South Africa Meetup
Event description
Join us to celebrate South African Freedom day with a braai at Manly dam. An awesome spot not far from Manly that feels a world away.
Bring swimming cossies and sunscreen, chairs and picnic blankets and any food and drinks you fancy.
We may also need some extra firewood and grills, so if you have these, let me know.
What has worked really well in the past is to each bring one item to share.
We are booked in section 4, site 39. Depending on numbers, can book adjacent sites if we have bigger numbers. Site is $75 to book so will ask for a fiver each.
There are some trails and great mountain biking track and you can swim in the dam and there'll be great company, so you can make a day of it.
There's no charge to get in the park, but parking at manly dam is pay and display and is expensive, its easier to think of it as your park entrance fees as its a lot. Northern beaches permit holders are exempt.
If you're not driving, I suggest reaching out for a lift or organising an uber. We can make a plan to pick you up at the entrance of the park. It isn't walking to section 4, but we can make a plan to help out with transport if you’d like to save cash and park outside.
The dam has a very strict closing time of 5:30pm, so need to be packed up and out well before.
There is a great mountain biking track around the dam for those that are a little more adventurous, or good for walks.
