Date: Saturday 21 September 2024
Time: 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Cost: $198
Instructor: Seng Mah
Location: West End, Fremantle
Maximum participants: 8

Course pre-requisites: You’ll need to be comfortable shooting in Manual Exposure Mode for this workshop as we will be showing you how to meter for noir lighting. If you’re not and would still like to join in, it’s worthwhile checking out some online training resources (eg. on YouTube) that explain how to shoot in Manual Exposure Mode before you sign up for this workshop.

Join us for an exclusive night portraiture shoot/workhop in Fremantle that’s all about recreating mysterious and dramatic film noir lighting. We’ll be working in a number of locations at the West End of Fremantle and leveraging constant light sources (including LED lights and light from mobile devices) in creating evocative and moody portraits that’s part Maltese Falcon and part Victorian Gaslight! You’ll be shooting in black and white and adding images to your portfolio like no other!

This event is limited to only 8 photographers. We’ll be footing it around Freo a bit, so make sure you wear good walking shoes! You’ll need fast lenses (f/2.8  or faster); lenses and/or cameras with optical image stabilisation (IS, OS, VR, SteadyShot etc) will be advantageous, as we will be working in low light. We recommend lenses in the 35mm – 200mm range for this workshop (specs here are for full frame sensors; crop frame sensor equivalents will depend on your camera type).

Learn the key skills and techniques in shooting portraits in low light, and how to set up lighting for dramatic portrait  lighting — lighting that evokes mood and emotion!

Don’t miss out and places are absolutely limited!

MEETING POINT AT 6.30pm, at the Fremantle Little High Street Car Park.

IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, this event will be re-scheduled to Saturday 28 September. Before you book, please make sure that you are also available on the replacement date.
