Event description

ABOUT THE EVENT

You are invited to the 10th Anniversary of the Fremantle Underwater Film Festival where you will attend a memorable evening, showcasing the biodiversity and wonder of our oceans through a hand-picked selection of short, underwater films.

The official screenings for the Fremantle Underwater Film Festival (FUFF) are held in the City of Cockburn, Western Australia this year. The festival screens just under two hours of short films in two acts, with an interval in between acts and is proudly supported by local business, Blueback Freediving & Yoga, and the City of Cockburn.

This year we will screen three evening shows, 6pm - 9:30pm, with 15-20 short films.

Founded in 2015, we are the only festival of its kind - donating 100% of the funds we raise through ticket sales for the Fremantle Underwater Film Festival (31 Oct, 1-2 Nov) to marine biodiversity conservation projects. Your ticket to the film festival helps support critically endangered ocean life. So far we've raised over $60,000 through ticket sales for the protection of the critically endangered Maui Dolphin - with only 45 adults sadly remaining of this species.

Catering is available on the night and is NOT included in the ticket price for festival goers only.
Dinner may be purchased at the venue - first come, first served until sold out. For those that wish to dine with us, we cater for gluten-free and vegetarian options. We recommend you park up early, walk across (1 min) from the free carpark off Carrington Street, turning off Carrington Street at the "Mint & Chilli" Cafe. Arrive for dinner between 5:30pm and 6:30pm to avoid disappointment. Enjoy a drink at doors open at 5:30pm, mingle with the crowd, find a steal at the FUFF Silent Ocean Art Auction, view a spectacular array of celebrated marine artists' creative works, discover the marine science and conservation projects happening on your local shores and find your seats before the show starts.

This year we will be joined by the 'Mermantle Men', a community men's singing group recently formed to share their songs of the sea with you prior to the films and at interval. Please wear your red diver's beanie and best nautical stripes (if you have them) on the night in solidarity with our band of singing brothers, our maritime heritage, community of ocean-lovers and those we remember who lost their lives at sea (human and non-human).

You can support our show by bringing cash for dinner, drinks, raffle tickets or unique, local ocean art exhibited for sale at our annual 'FUFF Silent Ocean Art Auction' by professional and amateur marine artists and photographers.

We gift our time and energy to advocate for ocean health.

Building a safe and sustainable relationship with the ocean is important to us.

OUR VISION, MISSION, VALUES

VISION

Healthy and connected, oceans and people.

MISSION

Our mission is to build a deep connection between human and ocean by bringing ocean stories, marine science and the transformational nature of the human-water connection into your life in creative ways.

VALUES

We protect the wild, conserve marine biodiversity, restore degraded ocean ecosystems, address direct threats to biodiversity and work to reduce our footprint on the earth.

We recognize the need to change the way we consume and the way we produce.

We know collaboration as a society on these goals will advance our collective benefit and ensure the sustainability of both our 'Ocean Life' as well as ocean lives.

We demonstrate commitment to our values every year by giving 100% of Fremantle Underwater Film Festival (FUFF) ticket sales to community not for profits, charitable organizations and local marine biodiversity conservation efforts that act to ensure ocean life persists.
