Fresh Start ~ A Personal Care Detox

What are you putting on your body every day?

Most of us have a bathroom shelf full of products we’ve been using for years.

Deodorant. Body wash. Moisturiser. Shampoo. Perfume. Face products.

We find something we like, it becomes part of the routine, and eventually we stop thinking very much about what’s actually in it.

So this month at Living Waters, we’re having a little personal-care reset.

Not by throwing everything in the bathroom cupboard away.

And definitely not by making life more complicated.

Instead, we’ll look at some of the everyday products we use on our skin and explore where a few simple, natural alternatives might fit.

A closer look at your everyday routine

We’ll talk about some of the products most of us use without a second thought, and how becoming a little more selective can be one simple way of reducing unnecessary ingredients in your personal-care routine.

We’ll explore how to use essential oils in homemade body and personal-care products, including combinations that smell fresh, clean, grounding, or uplifting.

And because natural doesn’t automatically mean “use as much as you like”, we’ll also talk about safe dilution and sensible use on the skin.

The idea isn’t to create a whole new regimen.

It’s simply to help you make more informed choices about the things you use every day.

Make your own natural deodorant

This is the part a few of you have already been asking us to bring back!

During the workshop, you’ll make your own natural deodorant to take home, using a simple base of ingredients such as coconut oil, shea butter and arrowroot.

Then you can make it your own by choosing essential oils based on your preferred scent.

You might go fresh and clean with Tea Tree and Cypress, softer with Lavender, or choose something more woody and grounding with Cedarwood.

We’ll show you how to make it, how to use it and how to adjust the recipe if your skin is particularly sensitive.

And best of all, once you know the basic recipe, it’s very easy to make again at home.

No bathroom-cupboard guilt required

This isn’t about deciding that everything you already use is “bad”.

It’s simply an opportunity to look at your routine with fresh eyes.

Perhaps there’s one product you’d like to replace.

Maybe you’re curious about making a few things yourself.

Or perhaps you’d like to know a little more about essential oils and how to use them practically in everyday personal care.

Come on your own or bring a friend and make a morning of it.

No previous experience with essential oils is needed.

Morning Tea

After the workshop, we’ll gather around the table for our usual relaxed morning tea, with homemade organic treats and a selection of Living Waters herbal teas.

There’s always time for questions, conversation and comparing what everyone decided to put in their deodorant. 😊
