Event description

Yandell Walton is teaming up with Harrison Hall & Liam Wolfe to live experiment with technology that merges live performer Laiken Jackson with virtual plant life. Using motion capture, photogrammetry and digital communication networks (DMX) the work blurs the boundaries between actual and virtual space and human and plant bodies to explore our understandings of the natural world in the Synthetic Age. This will be a visual feast and an innovative example of pushing technology in a new direction.

As well as our headliner, there will also be a live set from Dj Huntress, late night exhibition viewing of NOT NATURAL, roaming performance art from Snuff Puppets, and of course, food and drink.

Yandell Walton is a Melbourne artist working with moving image, computer-generated imagery and installation. She has become recognised for immersive works that merge the actual and virtual to investigate notions of impermanence, interrogating shifting environments caused by the climate crisis.  She recently participated in the Labverde program, a residency in the Amazon Rainforest informing major new projects throughout 2022 and 2023.  Her work has been commissioned, exhibited, and awarded nationally and internationally including ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE Festival (Australia), Light City Baltimore (USA), Digital Graffiti Florida (USA) and International Symposium of Electronic Art (Australia).
