Fridays @ UTS Startups: Confessions with Bhavi Popli and Robbie Miller.
Description
Every Friday afternoon, the UTS Startups Event Space (Corner of Harris St and Broadway, Ultimo) comes alive with stories, pitches, and conversations that showcase the energy of Sydney's startup community. Each week brings something new, from founder confessions to panel discussions, all designed to connect, inspire, and spark ideas.
This week, we're excited to welcome Bhavi Popli for a special edition of UTS Startups Confessions. Join us for a high-impact interview with Robbie Miller, former Fractional Head of Growth for e-commerce billionaire Davie Fogarty, the founder behind brands including The Oodie and one of Australia’s most recognised e-commerce success stories. Robbie is regarded as one of the best media buyers for e-commerce.
What does it really take to build a million-dollar e-commerce business?
Bhavi Popli is an entrepreneur, content creator, and UTS alumnus who walked away from the traditional corporate path in pursuit of something bigger. While still a student, he went all-in on entrepreneurship, testing more than 50 products and experiencing multiple business failures before finding traction.
With persistence, experimentation, and support from the UTS Rapid Value Creation (RVC) program, Bhavi scaled his first e-commerce brand to over $1 million in revenue within its first year. Today, he owns and operates a portfolio of e-commerce brands and shares practical, transparent insights from his entrepreneurial journey with thousands of founders through his YouTube channel.
Join us for a candid fireside chat as we unpack the realities of building online businesses, including:
• Testing ideas and learning from failure
• Finding your first winning product
• Scaling an e-commerce business from zero to $1M+ revenue
• Common mistakes early-stage founders make
• Building an audience and personal brand online
• The opportunities and challenges facing e-commerce founders today
• Lessons Bhavi wishes he knew when starting out
Whether you're building an online store, exploring entrepreneurship, or simply curious about what it takes to create a successful online business, this session will provide practical insights and honest lessons from someone who has been through the journey firsthand.
