Friendships and Community Connections Workshop November 2026
Description
We all deserve the Good things of life – family, friends, connection to the community, a sense of belonging, opportunities to learn and develop, meaningful work, a place to call home, personal and financial security and the chance to follow dreams and passions.
For people with disability, developing and nurturing the connections and relationships central to a good life can require more intentional planning and support.
Join this free, face-to-face workshop to explore practical strategies that enable people with disability to identify and explore opportunities to build meaningful relationships and to be naturally included in their local communities.
This two-hour workshop is for anyone who wants people with disability to experience a full and rich life. This includes people with disability, their families, friends and other supporters, professionals, as well as community members.
We are delighted that we will be joined by Family Leader Sarah Harvey, who will share her own experiences of implementing strategies to support her sons to live rich lives embedded in the community. You can read more about Sarah below.
Sarah Harvey has been associated with Family Advocacy for about 10 years and is currently a member of the Management Committee.
Her family’s vision for their sons includes them enjoying a satisfying social life with strong relationships in their local community. This has led Sarah to become very intentional about building genuine connections over time.
Sarah will share the skills and practical steps she’s taken to spot friendship opportunities and support her sons to develop great relationships.
