Event description

Show your love for frogs this Valentine's day!

Bring along a partner and learn all about the frogs that call the Sanctuary home from our very own frog expert, David De Angelis.

Pairs will then be allocated a site within the Sanctuary to record what species are present. No experience is necessary and you will get to see the Sanctuary at a time when it is usually closed to the public.

The data collected through this survey provides our staff with important information which can be used for future conservation planning and research projects.

This event is part of the Sustainable Living Festival 2024.

Nangak Tamboree (nan-nyack tam-bor-ee) means respecting, sharing and looking after the waterway in Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people.

The Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary was created in 1967 as a project in the restoration and management of indigenous flora and fauna. It has now evolved to now be a high biodiversity node within the Nangak Tamboree Eco-Corridor. This eco-corridor connects the Sanctuary from the Gresswell Habitat Link and Gresswell Forest to our north, through the La Trobe University Bundoora campus to Darebin Creek in the south.

This regenerated bushland environment is used for conservation, education and research activities that support the learning and teaching objectives of La Trobe University and it's surrounding schools. We also provide an array of community events and volunteering opportunities for those interested in the conservation of indigenous flora and fauna at the Wildlife Sanctuary.
