BEFORE YOU ARRIVE — WHAT TO BRING

@FirstName ,

Thank you for registering for @EventName

Before Week 1, please gather these four things.

Have them with you for every session throughout the twelve weeks.

A journal.

New. Chosen with care. Dedicated only to this course.

Not an existing journal with other life already in it.

Something that feels like it was waiting for this.

A special envelope.

Chosen rather than grabbed from a drawer.

Take your time finding it. The size, the colour, the weight of it — let these matter.

Something that feels worthy of what it will hold.

A photograph of yourself from before the loss.

Not of the person or thing you lost.

Of you.

Who you were then.

Find one that feels true.

A small object that represents what was taken.

Not the person or thing itself — something that holds the feeling of what was lost.

A stone. A piece of jewellery. Something from nature.

Small enough to hold in one hand.

At Week 1, you will pin the photograph to the front of the envelope.

It will stay there until Week 6.

These are not optional.

They are part of the work.

One more thing before you arrive:

This course will ask something of you.

Not your story — you already know your story.

Something quieter than that.

Your willingness to look honestly at what the story left behind.

If you are ready for that — I am ready for you.
