From Performer to Producer w/ Jem Nicholas + Sophie Ambler
Description
From Performer to Producer is a practical, movement-led workshop designed for emerging and independent artists who want to get sh*t done.
The two-hour session begins with polymath performer Jem Nicholas offering an introduction to physical theatre, focusing on performer wellness through embodied practice. You will be guided through movement-based exercises and introduced to principles of the (Tasmanian born, world renowned) Alexander Technique, exploring alignment, awareness, stamina, and sustainable performance practice.
Following this, experimental arts producer Sophie Ambler will lead a no-holds-barred, practical introduction to self-producing in Hobart, Tasmania. Drawing from her experience across independent theatre and professional festival production, Sophie will share her approach to project management, budgeting, marketing and pitching your work with both clarity and confidence.
The session concludes with an open Q&A, discussion, and time to connect with fellow artists.
Whether you’re developing your first show or looking to deepen your understanding of the independent arts landscape, this one-of-a-kind workshop offers both physical exploration and actionable knowledge.
Creatives from all disciplines are encouraged to attend, but register now to secure your spot. Spaces are extremely limited and extremely affordable!
In the meantime, we look forward to meeting you for an afternoon of movement, strategy, and earnest conversation.
