Pinotta : From Plates to Paper
Event description
Melbourne icon and culinary legend, Philippa Sibley, will next Wednesday 13th March present an exhibition of her unique pencil drawings of culinary ingredients on the walls of Fitzroy North bistro and institution Pinotta, where she was recently appointed as head chef.
The one-night-only event is open to the public and the evening will feature a Melbourne Gin Company cocktail on arrival, roaming platters of Sydney Rock oysters (the subject of her first pencil drawing), and canapes based on the four hero ingredients of her artworks – figs, prawns, artichokes, blackberries.
A chef for 35 years, Philippa Sibley turned to drawing for the first time in August 2022 and hasn’t looked back. Inspired by the produce she cooks with, especially its seasonality, the drawings reflect produce at its most perfect moments. For instance, the figs of Carlton during the months of late Summer.
Philippa Sibley will be in the kitchen and roaming with exhibition attendees, available for questions.
