About Rick Cohen and Worthy Cause
Rick Cohen is a Melbourne-based social entrepreneur and the founder of Worthy Cause, a charity and social enterprise offering transformative employment programs for people who have experienced severe hardship and marginalisation. Drawing from a background in hospitality and his own lived experience with mental illness, PTSD, and trauma, Rick brings a deeply personal commitment to his work. After beginning a Politics, Philosophy and Economics degree at ANU and later completing a Business and Marketing degree, Rick merged his culinary skills and passion for social justice to create Worthy Cause in 2021. Through this work, he helps vulnerable individuals build meaningful, sustainable lives with dignity, purpose, and wrap-around support.
About Perrie Ballantyne and ThirdStory
Perrie is an innovation strategist, practitioner, and coach with over 20 years’ experience working with leading social innovators, agencies, and teams across Europe and Australia. She is Director of East Coast operations at ThirdStory, a not-for-profit social innovation practice working across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the Caribbean. ThirdStory collaborates with communities, governments, and organisations to shift systems and bring about meaningful change in education, health, and social settings. Under Perrie’s leadership, and through initiatives like the Social Design Academy, ThirdStory focuses on building capability, designing for impact, and scaling new possibilities that reflect the aspirations and strengths of communities.
