Your child is already using AI. Maybe for homework help, maybe for something you would rather they did themselves, maybe just because it is built into the apps they open every day. The question is not whether AI is in your home. It is whether your family has decided what to do about it.

Most of what AI produces is slop: fast, forgettable, and shallow. But used well, the same tools can stretch a young person’s thinking, open up ideas they would not have reached alone, and give them a genuine head start. The difference is not the technology. It is the habits, the conversations and the boundaries families set around it.

Join us for an evening built for parents and carers, not for tech experts. Matthew Esterman spent around twenty years as a History teacher and school leader before founding The Next Word in 2024, and now works with schools across Australia on how to use AI safely, ethically and well. He is the co-author of two books on AI in education, and he will cut through the hype and the panic to give you practical things you can use at home the next morning.

You will leave with:

• A clear picture of what your child is actually using, and what those tools do with their information

• The difference between AI that helps learning and AI that quietly replaces it

• Questions worth asking your child, and conversations worth having at the dinner table

• Simple, realistic boundaries that work in a busy household

• An honest view of what schools can and cannot control
