Event description

Bidyadanga’s  third annual arts and culture celebration –‘From The Desert To The Sea’ – is back, bigger and better! The festival will be the largest-ever celebration of arts and culture in Bidyadanga, and will unite past, present and future leaders of the community across two unique events.

The Broome show  will feature a set of classic Bidyadanga songs that have defined the past few decades of life in the community, performed by its most talented artists.

John Bennett: hailing from Bidyadanga, a remote community where desert meets the sea in Western Australia’s Kimberley region, John Bennett is a gifted singer-songwriter whose artistry brings listeners into the heart of his Country and culture.

Yatangal: Yatangal is a cultural spiritual concept that comes in a dream as a child and transforms into the life-cycle of the Karajarri peoples belief. Mervyn is inspired by Yothu Yindi, Midnight Oil, Warumpi Band and local acts like Scrap Metal, Footprince, Lucy Cox and Bingurr, Kuckles, John Albert and his brother Frankie Shoveller. What stood out for him in all these acts is being a voice for his people and their ability to be heard by mainstream Australia.

We are also proud to bring Cash Savage and the Last Drinks to Broome for the very first time in their careers. Naarm/Melbourne heavyweights Cash Savage & The Last Drinks' legendary live shows are an overwhelming flood of emotion and sound, with magnetic frontperson Cash at the centre of the storm.

Savage’s band, The Last Drinks, are a powerhouse of fierce and brooding energy, every bit as committed to the songs and message. Each performance is as epic as it is honest, raw, and human—a cathartic, communal experience that refuses to give the audience an easy ethical bypass, instead challenging listeners to ask themselves the hard questions and step up.

Don’t miss out – the Broome Convention Centre is playing host to an amazing collaboration between local heroes and the legendary Cash Savage and the Last Drinks.
