Mindful Marks Q1 2026 Workshop - A Down Under Friendly Timed Event

Create from the place where art and emotion meet. In this three‑session online workshop, you’ll be guided through the creation of three unique small art projects, each inspired by the heartfelt theme From the Heart. Across the series, you’ll explore thoughtful, relaxing techniques that encourage self‑expression, meaning, and connection—no pressure, no perfection, just intentional creativity. Whether you’re gifting these pieces or keeping them as personal reminders, each session offers space to slow down, listen inward, and let your art speak from the heart.

Led by the talented Heidi Froelich (CZT40) and joined by fellow Certified Zentangle Teachers Sue Douglas (CZT34) and Sally Embry-Thomas (CZT37), join us in these 'From The Heart' themed sessions to be guided through the creation of three unique ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) projects.

Whether you're a seasoned tangler or just beginning your journey, this workshop promises inspiration, creativity, and a whole lot of fun!

- Three Sessions

- Live on Zoom

- From The Heart Inspired Projects

- Expert Guidance from Three CZTs

Session 1 - Love Framed with Sally Embury-Thomas. In this session you will create a sweet photo frame to house a picture of a loved one.

About Sally: She first discovered Zentangle when looking for drawing/craft courses online. She came across Niki Lawrence and ClassBento and was intrigued by the idea of creating a small piece of art on a page. Usually involved in quilting, crochet and knitting that take some time she was drawn to the Zentangle method which could be very quick and portable. She felt the calming influence of the drawing and quickly realised it would benefit her year 12 students as a way to destress during a normally stressful year. She did the CZT training online in May 2021 which introduced her to the kindest corner of the internet and a network of wonderful new friends all over the world.

Session 2 - Heartfelt with Sue Douglas. In this session you will explore a number of heart themed patterns to create a tile that expresses love in the best sense of Valentine's Day that you'll be proud to give away.

About Sue: Sue’s journey with Zentangle® began in August 2018, during a time of profound loss. What emerged was a quiet, compassionate space—one that allowed for reflection, gentle focus, and the gradual processing of grief. Through simple, deliberate marks, Zentangle became a source of comfort and a pathway back to creativity. In June 2019, Sue undertook a deeply transformative experience: Zentangle Teacher Training in Rhode Island. This immersive program not only certified her to teach the method but also deepened her understanding of Zentangle as a mindful, restorative practice—one that can be shared with people from all walks of life.

Session 3 - Field of Hearts with Heidi Froelich. Draw along to create a centre, feature heart over a panel of glitter to make it pop and surrounded by oodles of hearts using two different, complimentary patterns. Inspired by the day of love create something worth giving away.

About Heidi: She is a retired business woman who has worked in the logic brained industry of accounting for many years. She had a rich history of a working life but when Covid struck and changed our existence, she was reunited with her creative self. She rediscovered the joy of drawing and became a Certified Zentangle Teacher, delved into publishing colouring books and is the creator of the My Step Out Library series. Engrossed with these two endeavours, she lives a fabulous life in Melbourne, Australia where the coffee is the absolute best in the world.

This is an attend-only workshop. A materials list will be sent to all registrants, as well as workshop information. The workshop will begin at 10am with the Zoom session opening at 9.45am. Each session will run for 2 hours with a half-hour break in between. The sessions will be recorded and available for three months after the event. Participants will receive links via email after the workshop is finished.

A list of tangles will also be provided for participants to familiarise themselves and practice prior to the day.
