From Threatened to Thriving: Helping Local Plants and Pollinators: A Guide to Being a Biodiversity Warrior and citizen scientist in your neighbourhood is the topic for discussion at the next sustainability information night hosted by Renew's Sydney Central Branch.

We hope you will join us and our special guest, Dr Judy Friedlander, founder of environmental organisation PlantingSeeds to learn about:

Local and threatened plants and pollinators
Where to find plants to help pollinators
A guide to creating a three-tiered garden
Some guides to making insect hotels and sourcing nesting boxes for threatened birds and mammals
Citizen science - how to take and upload observations of species to iNaturalist and the CSIRO's Atlas of Living Australia and why this is so vitally important to biodiversity research which can help the individual research their local biodiversity.

Speakers:

Dr Judy Friedlander is the founder of the environmental organisation, PlantingSeeds, whose flagship program is the B&B Highway – Bed and Breakfasts for Bees, Birds and Biodiversity. The B&B Highway is an educational and practical program that links over 120 B&Bs at schools in three Australian States to form regenerative corridors. Students learn about local and broader biodiversity, plants, pollinators and citizen science through the program. Dr Friedlander is also a University of Technology Sydney Adjunct Fellow whose research explores positive and effective ways to engage with environmental issues. Her background as a newspaper and television journalist has helped spark many ideas and practical ways to engage the community in sustainable actions.
