United for South-America: From Nelson with aroha [Fundraising]

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

COVID-19 pandemic  poses  a grave  health threat to
Indigenous peoples around the world
. Indigenous communities already
experience poor access to healthcare, lack of access to essential
services, sanitation, and other key  preventive measures, such as
clean water, soap, disinfectant, etc. Most local medical facilities, if there are any, are often under-equipped and under-staffed. Even when  Indigenous peoples are able to access healthcare services,  they can face stigma and  discrimination.

During this time of dislocation and fear, we may find ourselves in a situation of stress and uncertainty. Fortunately for us, living in New Zealand, we are in a better position, that allows us to support each other and help those in need.

Nelson has incredibly rich ethnic diversity, with many Latin American immigrants and former refugees. This event aims to support the connection to those communities and cultures, through a small gesture to show we are with them even from far away.

We will all be united for South America - From Nelson with Aroha.
