Frontier AI: Challenges and Opportunities is a discussion panel showcasing careers at the cutting edge of safe & responsible AI.

Who is this event for? Attendees from any background are welcome. From machine learning to law or cybersecurity - if you're interested in the future of AI, then this event is for you! 

What is the purpose of the event? This event will provide an introduction to the concept of Frontier AI, while also showcasing the work being done to capture its benefits and address potential risks.

Who will be presenting?

Keynote speaker & panel moderator:

Ben Clifford is the Project Manager for the International Scientific Report on the Safety of Advanced AI, a high-profile initiative chaired by renowned computer scientist and deep learning pioneer Yoshua Bengio.

In his previous role, Ben was a Research Scholar with the Centre for the Governance of AI, contributing to initiatives such as the UK Government's policy paper on Emerging Processes for Frontier AI Safety.

Discussion Panel:

Alan Cooney leads the Autonomous Systems workstream within the UK's AI Safety Institute. His team is responsible for assessing the capabilities and risks of Frontier AI systems released by AI labs such as OpenAI, Google and Anthropic.

Emily Gillett is the Director of European AI Governance at The Future Society - a global think-tank which specialises in AI governance. Emily has an LLB from UCL and Master's in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Oxford. Prior to her current role, she was a lawyer for 15 years, specialising in corporate governance failures and commercial fraud.

Ollie Jaffe is a Research Engineer contractor working for OpenAI's Preparedness team, where he specialises in model evaluations. Prior to working with OpenAI, he was a research intern with London AI Safety Research Labs.
