FAQs

• Can we stay onsite?

  • Yes! There will be a paddock available for camping in tents or vans. BYO gear and shelter. There will be portaloos onsite too, but no shower - just the ocean walking distance away.

  • The Ōakura campsite is walking distance (about 15 mins), has amenities, tent sites and cabins.

  • If you're staying further offsite, you'll be a car ride away on rural roads - be safe and organise a sober driver or a shuttle.

• When can we arrive and depart?

  • The site will open Friday evening for early camping arrivals (24 April).

  • We ask that departures are made by 1pm Monday 27 April.

  • Vans will be separate from camping for safety in the paddock; you can come and go but we ask you to be conscious of other campers.

  • Cars/parking will be in a different paddock from vans and camping.

• What meals are included?

  • We're providing Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner & Sunday late-morning big breakfast - vegetarian options available.

  • Kai at the event will be prepared by a bunch of generous volunteers, and we will do our best to cater to dietary requirements but the site kitchen will not be 100% coeliac-safe or strictly vegan - please keep this in mind, and if you require anything specific, please bring it along.

  • This is a private, community run event so there aren't food or drink vendors onsite. Snacks, drinks meals outside of this will need to be arranged for yourself - Ōakura village is 10 mins away and has Four Square, Dawn Cafe, and other food options.

  • We suggest coming prepared so you can soak it all in and enjoy without having to shoot into town.

  • There is plenty of fresh, filtered rainwater available onsite.

• Can I bring my kids along?

  Haere mai whānau! Little ones are very welcome, we'll have a dedicated kids play zone set up for them.

  Kids under 12 years of age have free entry to this event.

  As we're on an open property near the clifftop, we ask that tamariki stay close to their people throughout the weekend; you're responsible for their safety.

• BYO & Alcohol

  Yes, you can bring your own booze. Cans only, please. NO GLASS. If we could do our best to keep the site tidy, take what we bring and ‘leave no trace’ that would be fabulous! There will be limited waste management.

  It's a community and family-friendly event, please be respectful and safe, and drink responsibly.

• How to get there

  • Head in the direction of Ahu Ahu Beach Villas, located at the coastal end of Ahu Ahu Road Lower, Kaitake, New Plymouth TKI 4374.

  • Signs will then lead you in the right direction to FRUITFLY HARVEST FESTIVAL's site location.

• Waste

  • Leave no trace - our strategy is for you to take your rubbish away with you.

  • We will provide rubbish bags on arrival, and encourage recycling.

  • There will be some onsite bins/waste management too, to keep things tidy - if you see something, we'd love your help picking it up and contributing to a space that feels good to be in!

  • Cans only, no glass.
