Forest Stewardship Council Certified Building Materials: Why, Where and How?
Event description
Join us for an evening discussing FSC Certified Building Materials in Australia: Why, Where and How? Our hope is to provide a roadmap for practitioners - architects, designers, engineers, sustainability consultants and others to better understand best practices for incorporating sustainable wood products, particularly FSC certified, into their projects.
We will be discussing:
- What is FSC and its application in Australia? What does the label represent for building projects seeking to use sustainable wood products?
- What is the FSC certification process and how does the Chain of Custody process work?
- How do you verify that the sustainable wood procured is what arrives on site?
- What has been the experience of manufacturers in using FSC?
- What is the best way to specify, cost and procure sustainable wood?
- What are the challenges and opportunities associated with using sustainable wood materials in architectural and structural elements of a building?
Our diverse panel of speakers will offer insights from industry and as practitioners, including:
- Stefan Jensen, Policy and Standards Manager, FSC Australia and New Zealand
- Nick Capobianco, Regional Affiliate of SCS Global Services for Oceania, SCS Global Services
- Joe Ballester, Country Manager Australia, Abodo Wood
- Ed Bond, Principal, Robert Bird Group
- William Cassell, Associate, Cox Architecture
