Fuckup Nights Perth - Volume 1
Description
Guest Speakers for our Inaugural Event

Sharon & Grant Grosser - Co Founders, SEQTA Software
SEQTA was started in 2006 at the kitchen table by husband and wife team Grant and Sharon Grosser. Grant was a deputy principal of a local school and was continually developing software to help in the administration. Other schools began asking for the system. Sharon was an English teacher and both were parents, so together they decided to create the all-in-one software system that could connect parents, children and teachers. In 2014 SEQTA was chosen to be one 8 Australian companies run by women to take part in the US-based 'Springboard' accelerator program. In January 2017 SEQTA Software was acquired by Education Horizons Group, an investment holding company that also acquired Melbourne-based Synergetic Management Systems. Under the EHG umbrella, SEQTA and Synergetic form the largest wholly-Australian owned K-12 school education software business in the country. SEQTA executive chairman John Vickers holds the same role at EHG. Similarly, SEQTA co-founder Grant Grosser is an executive director of both companies, with a focus on product innovation and development. Join us as Sharon and Grant tell their story. 000

Renée Gardiner - Founder, Growing Change
Renée Gardiner is a social change junkie, meaningful business lover and whole-of-being wellness advocate. In 2014 she founded Growing Change, a social enterprise promoting inclusion and mental health through growing, making and selling food. And led the establishment of Fremantle Social Farm, converting a 1/3 acre bowling green into a market garden with the support of local and national funding partnerships, and strong business and community interest.
With barely a farming season under their belt, and the first social horticulture program completed, operations ceased. Renée will candidly share her personal experiences and leadership insights about the rise and fall of a fast-growing, start-up social enterprise, and the most significant lesson she believes she’ll ever learn.
We brought Fuckup Nights to Perth in 2018 because with #peakstartup, a 90% failure rate, and all the talk of motivation and positivity, there’s something missing.. talking about failure, and learning from sharing stories of failure! Free your failures, Perth will thank you!
What was the project?
What went wrong?
What did they learn?
What would they do differently?
Perth Fuckup Nights are sponsored and coordinated by Impact Seed, Progressive Medical, SOMA and Summit Web.
