Funding First Nations-led Initiatives: Meet the AEGN Wisdom Group

AEGN is committed to upholding Indigenous peoples’ rights and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ self-determination. We are working to strengthen and integrate First Nations knowledge, relationships, and leadership across all AEGN programs and services. The AEGN First Nations Wisdom Group was established in 2023 to guide that work, to better include First Nations communities in philanthropy, and to help build capacity amongst AEGN members to respectfully engage with, learn from, and fund First Nations organisations.  

On 2 September 2025, we invite you to meet two members of the Wisdom Group, Liz Wren and Cissy Gore-Birch, for an introductory conversation about cultural awareness, knowledge and what it means to support First-Nations leadership. It’s an informal opportunity to ask questions, learn from each other, and help us to target future cultural training to meet the needs of our members and of First Nations organisations.
